Alex Cameron is violinist/composer who is well known for his amazing, out of the box musical talent. Alex can literally play it all, from classical to jazz & from Celtic to country. Alex’s dad, Doug Cameron is a well-known violinist/recording artist with 10 CD’s to his credit, and Alex has been performing with his father since the tender age of 5. He has appeared with his father in performing arts centers, as a soloist with symphony orchestras and as a headliner on premium cruise ships. A consummate classical violinist, Alex has won numerous concerto competitions playing everything from Mendelssohn to Lalo to the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. He has had the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall with The Honors Orchestra and with renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. As a composer Alex is an award winner in the Florida Music Educators composing competition with his own composition, Spanish Groove. Alex’s video and arrangement of the artist Drake Hit God’s Plan which showcases him in New York City busking for money and handing it out to the homeless made a tremendous impact on social media. His arrangement of God’s Plan has been played on Jazz Stations, including The Dave Koz radio show. Now Alex performs his own show and is wowing audiences with his talents. Alex is also an avid athlete and is a member of his varsity basketball team (point guard). Currently Alex studies with his dad and Radu Paponiu, esteemed violinist and conductor of the Southwest Florida Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic.
Alex also helped his dad introduce his “Swing your Strings” series when he was a boy, taking tried and true Suzuki Songs and adding different styles such as jazz, Celtic, hip-hop, gospel and others. He is also featured on Doug Cameron’s violinmastery.com website teaching the series.
Alex has a heart for offering his talent to help many worthy causes. He has performed every year for The Salvation Army Thanksgiving Meal since the age of 5, and also has been a featured performer at his church from a young age. He has also lent his talents to The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Southwest Florida Hurricane Relief Efforts with The Gulf Coast Symphony, Lakemary home for mentally challenged children and adults in Kansas and other worthy causes. Alex was asked to headline the BRC annual fundraiser in New York City. BRC is a company that builds and maintains homeless shelters all over New York. Every year Alex also to headlines his school’s annual fundraiser, where lends his talents to help the cause and raise money.
